The new European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will introduce significant changes to data protection requirements from 25 May 2018. The UK is expected to “opt in” to the new regulation whilst the details of its Brexit negotiations are being thrashed out and so it is expected that the new requirements will apply in the UK.
