ICO launches new audit framework to help assess data protection compliance

On 7 October 2024, the ICO launched a new audit framework designed to help organisations assess their own compliance with key requirements under data protection law. It is intended to provide “practical tools for building and maintaining strong privacy management”, and is made up of nine toolkits covering areas including data sharing, information and cyber security, and training and awareness.

AMNT publishes results of MNT survey

The AMNT has published the results of a survey of 58 MNTs over 40 pension schemes. Key findings include:

  • almost half of respondents were planning for a buy-out as their endgame objective
  • 37% were aiming for self-sufficiency, and
  • the top three hurdles to buy-out were insurer capacity, current pricing and the sponsoring employer having differing views.

PPI publishes paper on investment in infrastructure

On 3 October 2024, the PPI published a “deep dive” paper on pension scheme investment in infrastructure. The paper looks at how patterns in investment in infrastructure assets have changed in the past, how it might change in the future, and the implications for pension schemes and members. It follows a deep dive into alternative investments published last month.
