Oliver Topping comments on cyber crime in Pensions Expert
Senior associate, Oliver Topping, has commented in Pensions Expert on the increased susceptibility of pension scheme trustees, administrators and individual members to cyber crime, as a result of remote working.
The coronavirus outbreak has meant that pension trustees have had to adapt quickly to a new way of working, which includes now having to conduct sensitive meetings over Zoom and other video conferencing facilities. Commenting on this, Oliver says, “They would always have held their meetings in person at their offices. There is not a particular awareness of which platforms might be the safest or the most appropriate to use.”
He also describes how trustees could be liable for a data breach, and administrators should be aware of the potential for a cyber attack.
