Pension Managers’ Forum – tackling DC governance and the impact of state benefit changes

Thursday 30 April 2015

Aimed specifically at addressing the issues faced by busy pension managers, this invaluable forum allows pension managers the opportunity to ask questions and share experiences on a range of different topics and issues.

With the Pensions Regulator’s DC code of practice still in its relative infancy, this April will see regulations come into force requiring DC arrangements to comply with new governance and charges standards.   Looking a year ahead to April 2016 and, as a result of a radical shake-up of the state pension system, DB contracting-out will come to an end.  With so many pensions developments converging at once, our latest forum will focus on these two essential changes and the key issues pension managers will need address to ensure that they are not overlooked.  In particular:

  • What should DC trustees be doing now to ensure that their schemes can meet the new governance and charges requirements?
  • What new reporting obligations will DC trustees need to meet and how should they prepare for them?
  • What steps should employers and trustees be taking to get ready for the demise of DB contracting-out?
  • Are any other scheme benefits likely to be affected by the state benefit changes?
  • Will your employer be looking to make any changes to benefit design as a result and, if so, how should this be documented?

The forum will also include an open “Any Other Business” section, held under Chatham House rules and providing you with the opportunity to discuss any issues with which you are currently grappling.  If you would like to take advantage of this section, please let us know the topic you would like to raise when confirming your place.
